What to Do on a Santa Fe Bachelorette Getaway
Planning a Bachelorette Party in Santa Fe? We've Got You Covered...
Santa Fe has (nearly) all the ingredients for an unforgettable bachelorette escape - great dining, natural beauty, a ton of outdoor activities, one of the country's top spas, and heaps of history and culture. While it's not the place to come for Vegas-style bachelorette partying, it's the perfect place for adventurous groups to get outside, unwind, and celebrate over margaritas. Here are some of the best spots for a bachelorette group to eat, drink & dance, explore, and relax in and around Santa Fe.
Eat
Kick off your trip by dining at the chef's table at State Capital Kitchen (call in advance to book). Chef Mark Connell will walk your group through multiple courses of his creative New American cuisine, which also draws heavily from Italy (his homemade pasta is divine!).
Also check out Joseph's, a cozy, charming restaurant that serves up upscale comfort food like duck fat fries and BBQ pork ribs, along with creative takes on local cuisine, like tomato and pork tamales and beef tenderloin stew with green chile.
No trip to Santa Fe is complete without ingesting copious amounts of green chile and margaritas, and local favorite La Choza is the place to get both. Make a reservation or get there early - it fills up. For a New Mexican classic, try blue corn enchiladas with carne adovada (red-chile marinated pork) - order "Christmas" to get it smothered in both red and green chile.
If all the green chile and margaritas have your group craving something lighter, head to Sweetwater Harvest Kitchen for brunch. It's a beautifully light, airy space with lots of natural wood, hanging paper lanterns, and tables with built-in succulent planters. The food is just as beautiful - not to mention delicious and (mostly) healthy. Think buckwheat banana pancakes, baked eggs with sweet potato and red chile, and matcha smoothie bowls.
Other great dining options are Paloma (a lively spot with modern Mexican cuisine) and El Farol (tapas and other Spanish dishes in a beautifully restored historic building) on Canyon Road. El Farol also offers a flamenco show every Saturday evening - call ahead to book.
Drink & Dance
Make your way to the Gruet tasting room for a pre-dinner sparkling wine toast. The Gruet family, well-known in France for their production of champagne, decamped to New Mexico in the 1980s and have been making high quality wines here ever since. Today it's widely recognized as one of the best American sparkling wines. You can sample these, as well as their excellent still wines, at their small, charming tasting room, attached to the hotel St. Francis.
La Boca, a fun and casual Spanish restaurants, offers an extensive list of Spanish wines, as well as live music on weekends. Shows range from country western to classical Spanish guitar to New Mexican-influence bluegrass.
If your group is in the mood to dance, head to Evangelo's, a favorite local dive bar. It's not fancy, but lively musical acts and a fun-loving weekend crowd make it the spot for cheap beers and uninhibited dancing.
Late night options are limited in Santa Fe, so your best bet is Boxcar, a loud, cheerful sports bar and live music venue that's open until 2 AM. This is also the place to go for late-night eats.

If you have a rental car, head to Kasha-Katuwe Tent Rocks National Monument. It's a 45-minute drive from Santa Fe, but you'll feel like you've landed on another planet. The namesake tent-shaped rocks and narrow, twisting slot canyon are just a preview for the breathtaking view that awaits you at the top. It's a short, but fairly steep hike - bring plenty of water! Or, for hikes closer to Santa Fe, check out our post on the city's best short hikes.
Don't miss Meow Wolf. This zany, weird, and wonderful place is hard to describe, but combines elements of an interactive art exhibit, funhouse, and immersive mystery. Discover hidden passageways, make music with lasers, and play classic arcade games - your group will be talking about it all weekend. Go early or on a weekday - it's popular and gets crowded.
Relax
Unwind from a busy weekend at Ten Thousand Waves Spa, a stunningly beautiful Japanese-style spa located in the hills just ten minutes from downtown Santa Fe. This wonderful place is consistently ranked among the top spas in the county, and it's easy to see why. As a bonus, the prices are surprisingly reasonable for such a top-notch experience. Rent a private outdoor soaking tub for your group, or choose from the spa's heavenly massages, facials, and wraps. When you're sufficiently chilled out, walk over to the spa's restaurant, Izanami (you can even wear your kimono!) for creative Japanese small plates and a very extensive sake list.
